So it's better to save some ducks or geese than to spend more time & money on saving people in that city from being murdered??

Of course Mayor Daley of Chicago is a Democrat. So is Governor Rod Blagojevich. And the state of Illinois is split right across the middle because of the Chicago political machine .

They way they produce foie gras is disgusting and cruel. Or do you not know the awful procedure?

I am very glad they have done this. Animal cruelty should not be tolerated anywhere, and especially not to please the discerning palates of fat, rich bastards.

There are foie gras bans all over the world. USA is just catching up. And it wasn't the governor who decided this. It was the city council. Here is an article stub I found:

"On April 26, 2006, Chicago’s City Council voted 48 to 1 to outlaw the sale of foie gras, making America’s third-largest city the first place in the nation to eliminate this extreme form of cruelty.

The new ordinance follows on the heels of California’s statewide foie gras ban, which was passed in 2004. Because that legislation provided a seven-and-a-half-year phase-in period, Chicago’s ban will be the first to take effect. Other states currently considering a ban on foie gras production include Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York. Many other countries have already banned foie gras, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Israel."

P.S Don't mind me. I didn't read your question and just started typing away. Foie gras is awful.
