I'm trying to find out if Makita makes decent power tools, from what I've read online even their general models are strong, and long lasting. Every review I've read about them is positive, does everyone agree?

Yes. Some tool brands are better than others in some respects. But generally speaking, they are all about the same as far as quality goes. I go for features, and where I can get stuff serviced IF if does break. I have mainly Craftsman, some SnapOn, Freud, Stanley. It really depends on what tool you're specifically looking at. Try checking out http://www.popularmechanics.com They have articles in there all the time comparing different tools.

Makita is good. The person above stated that Sears is better, but I don't agree. It depends on your use. If you are going to use the tools daily, then Makita is great. Sears is great for weekenders. I own Sears and Makita. For my serious work, I use the Makita tools, good luck.

Personally, I wouldn't buy another Makita tool. In the past I bought some but was very dissatisfied. Now I buy Porter cable. I've used Dewalt on the job and they're alright too.

Well, if you watch Monster House on Discovery Channel it should answer your question.
Those volunteers work really hard to have the Makita tools offered on the show. It must be desireable by those professionals.
Don't you think?
