Your explorer.exe is your Windows. Whatever programs you load up, your explorer.exe will use more CPU. The only way to reduce this usage is to get more memory.

Normally windows will load programs in the background that you are not aware of because of possible trojans or spywares. You might want to go to your task manager and end the process of things you dont recognize.

Do a disk defrag and then go to START, RUN, type msconfig. Go to the startup tab and uncheck programs you dont want running when you startup your computer.

It should help a bit.

A CPU is not like a car engine. In other words it doesn't slow down the more it's accessed.Your explorer and all other programs are supposed to run in the computer's memory. This, again,is another example of a computer industry problem.Take the computer together with the receipt and warranty back to the store that you purchased it from and talk to the manager.Call first.(virus scanners do not get all of the virus out of a computer---they will detect for known or discovered virus in some memory and on the hard drive)

many things poss, here; 1st) what is your cpu size/speed? are you on the internet full time? (if so disconnect) bceause sounds like a prog. trying to phone home....is it "explorer.exe" that is doing the slowdown? or is there an extension? sometimes when a program has a task, it just takes a while, but generally a busy cpu indicates some task at hand (for a good diag. and reveal appl., try "what's running" free, easy to use) get @ snapfiles.com or major geeks.com

explorer.exe is a part of windows that launches programs (especially at startup). Try closing as many programs that auto startup as possible.

Under NO circumstance should you end this proccess. Windows WILL stop working completely. Trust me i have done it and the only fix is to reinstall the OS. Please dont let it happen to you!

'Cuz you look at porn...or download music or something....

Sorry man, it's true.
Start another question on how to remove spyware programs from your cpu...you probably need a new adware scanner.

Good luck.
