I have read numerous news stories across the United States about how police officers have tasered children,senior citizens and even citizens that werent doing anything wrong but arguing with a police officer. According to Amensty International, more than 162 citizens have died after being tasered by police. Cops are using tasers so much because they think tasers cant kill a person. In the old days cops would just handcuff a person, now they taser you first then ask questions.

Because the liberals won't allow the police to just shoot someone who is holding a gun or knife and refused to put it down when ordered. Or when people run from the police, they can't just shoot them.

Wrong. In the old days cops died because they were unable to use an effective non-lethal deterrent. For every case where a citizen dies ten more are alive because they were tasered instead of shot. Not to mention the countless police officers alive today because of the effectiveness of a taser.

In the old days, cops weren't so likely to be killed by people they were dealing with.
Check the stats on how many people are killed by police officers discharging firearms vs how many people are killed by police officers using tasers.
Nobody's saying it's a perfect solution, but if you CAN use a less lethal method of dealing with someone who needs to be deal with then the police SHOULD be able to.

People are tased because they are resisting arrest or being violent, and the police would rather tase someone than shoot them with a gun. It's for a person's own safety. Other than a few remarkable cases of reported abuse, the only people who get zapped with a taser are those who are not obeying the police.
