I heard that the relief money was used for the stadium intstead of helping the people with their homes, schools and things like that. Where in the world does a football stadium come before childrens needs? Who will have money to go to the games if they have no home in the first place?

I didn't realize there was a such thing as a Mayor of Lousiana.
Besides, between Bush, Abramohoff, Delay, Ney, Cheney and numerous other government officials and their associates, there appears to be plenty of corruption to go around that doesn't have anything to do with Lousiana.

A question in response to your question. Sorry.
If a person chooses to live in a potential disaster area, and a disaster happens and you use your compensation pay from the government to purchase things that are not essential instead of using it to find a new home or fix the one that was damaged? Shouldn't you then be responsible for finding yourself a new place to live, or fix your own home?
Most people who were left with no place to live have already been compensated by FEMA and other federal programs. As we speak, disaster victims are being given the opportunity to purchase HUD and FHA homes that have been "repo'ed" at a fairly low cost. There is still much work to be done in the south, but it is happening. It takes time to recover from a distaster of this magnitude. Louisiana wasn't the only state that was hit by the storms of last year, so why is everyone focused on the New Orleans area? You don't hear much about the damage caused by the same storm in other areas or states, nor about the damage caused by Rita.

I think that the state of LA is fixing the stadium, not rebuilding it. Now if that is the case, then I hope that Ray Nagin is doing it in the thinking that it would bring people to the games, hotels, and restaurants in the area which in turn would bring taxes paid to the state. I don't agree with the mayor of LA and I think that he needs to be voted out of office, but if that is how its happening, then I like the thinking and planning. I know that the state is very corrupt and the federal government needs to come in and do an investigation of officials and audit of funds, but I do agree with the stadium being fixed.

Well to be fair the Stadium was State owned so It was fixed by the state. The houses were Private Property so the Private owners should fix them. At least that is the Official Government Word.

I don't know, but that would be a shame if they did. That goes to show you, we live in a mans world and they are allowed to play army man (war in Iraq) and football (Louisiana). They should have been kids when they were kids and not as adults.

Good Lord, I hope that is not the case. If it is, however, it is a prime example of how our society cares nothing for it's people but in enterprise and making the almight buck! Sad!
