I have read numerous news stories across the United States about how police officers have tasered children, senior citizens and even citizens that werent doing anything wrong but arguing with a police officer. According to Amensty International, more than 162 citizens have died after being tasered by police. Cops are using tasers so much because they think tasers cant kill a person. In the old days cops would just handcuff a person, now they taser you first then ask questions.

I don't know why Americans allow it. It seems like a weapon
straight out of Nazi Germany.
Human beings have lost their way not to realize this, but
just let happen to them once.
Those stories you mention - I saw that, too - Disturbing.

Get this - everyone is so fearful of the law these days, that the cops can't meet their quotas. Now, they hang out at intersections
looking for 'aggressive drivers'. That's where I live.
They want everyone to follow the law, but when we do,
they go out and Look for things.

As you can tell, the respect is gone.

The police are only suppose to taser out of control people who refuse to coroperate or when the police feel that the "badguy" could potentially or is already a high threat to the officer or a high threat to himself or peopl in the area.
I'm sure that they also go through some sort of tasor traing and are given the info on all this ins and outs of the power a tasor can have.
I haven't heard of any deaths from tasors....but maybe thats cause it doesn't happen in my area. Don't know.
But in the end if I were a cop then I would much rather use a tasor than have to shoot someone and if people are gettting tasored for no reason then they can just file a lawsuit.

In the old days there wasn't as much drugs and people could be reasoned with. If that person is carrying a weapon and someone else's life is in danger because of the criminal's actions then I believe they deserve to get tasered. It's safer than getting shot. If that person wasn't running from authorities or involved in criminal acts they wouldn't have to worry about getting tasered. As part of the academy officers have to zap themselves with these things. So they know what it's all about. Stay out of trouble and you don't have to worry about this question.

Tazers are still a use of force, and should be used only when necessary. Frankly, though, the odds of dying from a tazer shot are pretty slim, especially when compared to a gunshot wound.

I think the benefit of increased use of tazers far outweigh the risks. Its a lot like immunizing children: There are always a few children who will actually die from the shot, but the chances are so slim that its worth it.

50K volts is better than a bullet. I think sometime police officers abuse their authority though. Some criminals deserve a zap or two, but I hope cops dont overuse their new tools. Use it sparingly, officers! I'd rather get zapped with a tazer, that bonked on head with a stick.

Before an officer can use a tazer they have to be shot with one and the newer models have a camera built into them.
Amenesty International is a bunch of whiners anyway.

i think tasers are the best idea ever. you can take a smart *** punk and zap them without death. i have never heard of anyone dying from a taser. maybe if used unproperly and in those cases it was probably someone whoshouldnt legally have one. 50,000 volts!!?? cmon now!

I think it is an effective way to take down people who dis-obey the law and fight with police officers.
