Ive been reading reviews and it seems to me you can get a good 300 dollar acoustic that can compare to a 700 dollar acoustic. It seems if you pay 500 dollars for a acoustic its blowing your money. I read at least 40 reviews saying a 300 dollar yamaha can compare to a 700 dollar martin. But you can buy a 400 dollar stratocaster and its nowhere near a les paul. WHY????

Martin acoustics are amazing. But it depends which one you get.

Acoustic guitars are tricky. A $100 Gibson Epiphone PR100 will suffice for someone who is
A) learning how to play
B) on a budget
C) wants a guitar that they can take to the beach, or camping, etc. - something that they won't be too bummed about if it gets damaged.

HOWEVER! With acoustic guitars, just like anything else, you get what you pay for!!! The cheaper the guitar, the more it will lack:

A) craftsmanship! care in how the guitar is made
B) good materials! the cheaper the guitar, the crappier the wood.
C) overall lifespan
D) sound when performing

Get it?

personally, i like either a martin or an ovation....if your gonna spend money to buy one, don't skimp, you'll hear it in the sound when you test them....go for it...you only live once
