What would be the best way to take the paint off it?

I've had old wicker furniture. To restore it (paint over it), I simply sprayed the furniture with flat, white paint. It turned out great! I went ahead and gave it a second coat just to make sure the white covered everything. It was easy to do.

You can paint right over the old paint if you wire brush it first. It is very difficult to remove paint from wicker because of all of the interweaving. It can be stained as well, but only if it wasn't previously painted.

if the old paint must come off, by a gal. of paint remover and work a small area at a time
it will come off easy

Your best bet would be to spray paint over the old paint.

A gallon of petrol and a match, then you can replace it with something more tasteful, which simply means anything not in wicker.
