Why are the skies high, and elephants can't fly?

Why are the skies high? Imagine waking up, walking around with the clouds on your face...wouldn't that be annoying?
Why can't elephants fly? Imagine that they do, and one of them suddenly gets shot while flying. Imagine yourself having a quiet picnic, then you look up and see a dead elephant going straight to your face. Certainly not the way to go.

Well you see, back when the telephone used to be a messenger who ran between two people speaking the message and chickens did peoples taxes, there was a man by the name of Old-Man Jesus. He was the son of a Divine Whore who wishes to remain unnamed and God. He was doing a little dance one day to shake off the Old-Man shakey, hokey pokey blues when he saw a little extra terrestrial by the name of Thor that was walking past.
