A Rod will stay in New York until he retires. Guaranteed. Can someone please tell me why these stupid sports writers come up with this stuff.

New York = Largest City in the USA
New York Yankees = Largest Fan Base

So the simple formula is as follows:
Stupid Trade Rumor involving Yankees biggest player + Dwindling readership numbers = People buying the newspaper & reading this stuff = Reporter keeps his job despite being a fool.

There are a couple of other points worth noting here. First, never forget the fact that the talk could be a "trial balloon" about a possible deal. The front office floats the possibility out there to see what the reaction might be with the fan base. I've never known sports writers to make stuff up completely out of the blue.

Second, the financial situation with A-Rod isn't as bad as it sounds. Remember, the Rangers are picking up about half of the remainder of the contract, so the Cubs, say, probably could afford such a move.

If there's one thing we should have learned by now, it's that there are no guarantees. A-Rod had a chance to be the greatest shortstop in baseball history until the Yankees' trade, but he's still a sure Hall of Famer. You'd never trade a guy like that unless he (and the team) was positively convinced he couldn't play in New York any more. We're probably not at that point.

But ... never say never.

A-Rod is NOT going to be traded! The stupid sports writers say this stuff because they want everyone to pay close attention to the Yankees to see if A-Rod will get traded. But, I got this e-mail a couple of days ago about A-Rod being traded and Joe Torre, Brian Cashman and George Steinbrenner said they will NOT trade A-Rod because he's just in a big slump right now and that he will eventually get out of it. Also, they said a lot of players go through these slumps and A-Rod is just one of them. He WILL get over this slump, I guarantee it.

On one hand, it extremely is achieveable because of the fact AFraud lives in Miami throughout the offseason and the Marlins desire something -- even a chew of crap, washed-up, steroids-using, third baseman -- to attempt to charm to followers next season. That pronounced, I doubt the Marlins gets him for no longer something whether the Yankees take Bell, so as that component of the tale is astounding. I, individually, think of Miami could be nuts to deal with ARoid because of the fact he's a participant thoroughly and fully without upside, and he's so previous now that a transformation of atmosphere won't reenergize his profession. Loria had a run final season the place he blew funds on "call" gamers yet none of them have been washed-up whilst he signed them. i extremely doubt that this deal pans out.

they start this to "try quietly" to convince the general managers that the deal can actually happen. plus a high ranked or great paid player will generate lots of attention in a trade. and u no columnist, they are just like reporters, always starting something.

I think most people have hit the nail on the head. Those loser reporters who are about to lose their jobs need SOMETHING to write about..

But youhave to realize that this drought of his, i think is a MENTAL block. I don't think he is lacking in the physical department. But doubts have been swirling around here and there. Finally it just got to him and he broke down. When he builds his mental toughness we will see the A Rod of old.

They just need to sell more papers and A-Rod is a sure bet.

He's so popular even the people who hate him would read a story on him.

He should be traded, because he is out of position at 3rd base and he can't deal with all the New Yawk pressure. He needs to go someplace where he can be the lone star on the team and the SHORTSTOP!

He will be traded in the off-season. I guarentee that. He cant handle playing in New York and the Yankees will never win with him.
