To really understand it you will have to study a lot of history.
The short story, going backwards:
Israel is bombing Lebanon to the dark ages because citizens of Lebanon (and they might not even all be citizens, just random people in Lebanon) known as Hezbollah kidnapped 2 (yeah just two) Israeli soldiers.
Why Hezbollah kidnapped the soldiers is not completely clear, but they have been fighting against Israel ever since the Arab nations lost the 7 Days War.
The 7 Days War was a war fought shortly after Israel was created. The Arab nations attempted to retake land that was stolen by the western nations. They summarily got their butts handed to them because Israel was backed by the US and friends. In this conflict Israel took more land from the surrounding nations.
Israel was created out of Palestine after WW II in part because of massive guilt on the part of the western countries for not realizing what Hitler was doing in the Holocaust. Another, less talked about reason, was that most European nations didn't really want the Jews around anyway.
Going back further there has always been animosity between the two cultures (Hebrew and Arab) even into Biblical times (BCE).

Israel has every right to defend herself! We shouldn't have to sit quietly while our country is being attacked in every which way!
What kind of creatures get on a crowded bus, trying to kill as many as possible? What kind of monsters run into a pizza shop with the intention of m.urdering any women, children or anyone else around? Who kidnaps civilians and soldiers on a regular basis?
Why must our children live in fear?
Israelis are hard, stubborn and rude people because that's the only way we can survive this daily routine of experiencing d.eath close up; attending funerals of so many loved ones; surviving an attack by a s.uicide b.omber.
We kicked out THOUSANDS of families from their homes, some have been living in TENTS for the better part of a year now, just to quiet the arabs. What do we get for it? Rockets and missiles fired from that same land we gave them, deeper into Israel than ever before.
Everywhere you go in this country you see plaques in memory of the peopler who were m.urdered in that very spot. Enough is enough. We can't stay quiet any longer.
I don't expect everyone to understand, but if you just live in Israel for a little while, I'm sure you too will experience the same anxiety we do every time we see someone carrying a big black bag on the bus. You might feel the same way we do when we turn on the radio in the morning, just knowing something terrible has happened; just waiting to hear the names of those who were killed.
Just some more food for thought:

What's even more frightening is that people are actually sympathetic towards the Hezbollah!
This, "They are fighting because they captured 2 (yes only 2) soldiers" is just horse apples!
Years and YEARS of oppression and torment on the Israelis! Not only that, but Israel gave up southern Lebanon to make peace and what happened? Hezbollah moved in and began tormenting them yet again. Israel gave up the Gaza strip and what happened?
I would say that Israel has been more than patient! If the Lebanese government would actually stand up to this Hezbollahh, then they wouldn't be in this mess. But, do they? No because it's funded by Iran and speculation that Syria is as well.
It's also quite sad that most of you have forgotten that Hezbolla blew up a military dorm and killed 230 US marines in Beirut in the 80s.
Good on you Israel for standing up for yourselves.

Go to www.bbc.com. Click on Middle East, and then you can click on a number of articles, facts and analyses, about this most recent war, from day one. It will be better than anything you'll get here (unless you want to look up my answers of course, in particular, "what's the beef between Hezbollah and Israel")? And it is worth your time. We have a very serious war going on, one that might become regional, if not even more complicated. Every one of us should try and stop this violence.
BTW, yes, you can safely say that Israel is bombing Lebanon. About 50 airstrikes a day dropping tons of bombs weighting tons have killed 370 Lebanese, injured and burned thousands, the vast majority civilian, displaced 700,000, and pulverized all of the roads and bridges of that country as well as the airport and numerous other infrastructure. By Israel's own account (go to Ha'aretz.com, 37 Israelis have died, at least 12 of them military). So, I don't care how many rockets Hezbollah is firing daily, the israelis have to stop comparing their pain or justifying their brutality on what Hezbollah has done to them.

previous journey shows that there is on no account a end to mid east conflicts. fairly, activities are set in action which will set off off some significant considered modifications contained quicker or later, alongside with Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon 6 years in the previous. hence, in a month's time from now there'll be no very very final end yet we can wisely assume that: a. a mild ceasfire, mediated via utilising third activities, will exist between Israel and Hezbolla. it fairly is going to be broken often situations via utilising Hezbolla, an replace of fireplace will ensue, and then the area may well be quiet back. b. Israel will shop, a minimum of in the recommend time, a protection rigidity presence in South Lebanon. c. Negotiations via third activities will ensue on the subject of the replace of the two abducted Israeli squaddies for Lebanese and in line with possibility Palestinian prisoners. d. Hezbolla chief Nasralla will cutting-edge the situation (the undemanding incontrovertible fact that Hezbolla survived) as an considerable victory against the Zionist entity and united statesa.. e. The violence in Iraq will proceed inspite of what happens in Lebanon. f. some very own modifications may well be carried out interior the Baath regime in Syria in spite of the incontrovertible fact that the in simple terms real function of Syria as supporter of militant communities in Iraq and Lebanon won't shrink. g. No sanctions may well be taken against Iran on the subject of its nuclear potential bid. h. workers modifications interior the Israeli protection stress will replicate the Israeli government's dissatisfaction with some generals and a few intelligence chiefs. A yet unfelt yet a turning out to be paradigm shift will carry the Israeli public opinion in direction of a miles better militant stance, ensuing in a greater good physique of innovations to the palestinians and to the Lebanese. The rightist Likud occasion might connect the Israeli government.

This is a complicated issue. Lebannon is harboring a terrorist group called Hezbollah. Hezbollah is another ultraconservative islamic group that thinks the state of Israel has no right to exist. (basically muslim extremists attacking jews) The terrorists started launching random rocket strikes at Israel and Israel retaliated in force.

To get a full understanding, we have to go back a long time ago when the Israelis were expelled from 109 locations and the British mandate and Balfour declaration gave Israel a part of the Palestine land that was occupied by the British forces then.
http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/expelle...
The Israeli Zionists had their own agenda to attain their "promised land" - the land between the Al Forat & the Nile Rivers - and Israel began to invade parts of Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and more parts of Palestine.
In 1967 the UN passed resolution 242 calling for Israel to withdraw form the occupied Arab territories they have invaded & occupied during these wars.
During this time, Israel has been conducting ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians and is continuing to do so to this day as it is now doing to Lebanon as well. Have you heard of the Israeli Sabra & Shatila massacre in Lebanon or the Deir Yassin massacre in Palestine? Please read on:

The whole issue of the current abuse over Lebanon is not the issue Israeli soldiers. Israel provoked Hezbollah by crossing the Lebanese borders to aggravate matters and have Hezbollah retaliate. Lebanon is only a stepping-stone to reach Syria and Iran after Iraq has been totally destroyed and occupied by the US. (Israel was behind the Afghanistan / Iraqi wars).

For Israel to be able to fulfill its agenda, then it has to ensure that there are no powerful Arab / Muslim armies in the region except the Israeli army, which is backed up & fully equipped with US military weapons. Israel also has its own nuclear power station and nuclear warheads.
I have many sources to support all that I have said if you care to check them out yourself.
Israel throughout history has been conducting covert operations against the US (in particular) to set up the Arabs and begin wars with their neighboring Arab countries to achieve their cause / agenda.
From history, Israel did conduct attacks on the US harming and murdering US citizens trying to set up Arab countries in the process so that the US may start wars with these countries – Check the sources below: USS Liberty and the Lavon affair and others:

free elections in lebanon(in other words terrorists can run), hezebollah won because he was popular. then to start his evil regime he kidnaps 2 israeli soldiers that were in a boat off the coast of lebanon. israeli government gets pissed off, wants to bomb hezebollah to hell, inevitable war between the two countries and probably world war III in the near future.
