Think twice about that statement. Just because you think no one needs you right now does NOT mean that someone does not need you now, or will need you soon.
Also, how are you defining "depend"? Do you walk your neighbor's dogs? Help old ladies across the street? Say "hi" to people? Make a phone call? Send e-mails? Post questions? They might not have "needed" that in your opinion, but your effort might have been just the thing to make a difference in someones day or life.
