I try to tell folks from up north that it feels like 100 degrees every single day for 6 months down here without one cold front of relief. I don't think they quite get it. I have been a resident for many years now but come from Wisconsin and I still get kind of a chuckle when Floridians put on winter coats in 40 degree weather and call it frigid. I guess I see both sides of the coin.

How would you handle 10 degrees with a wind chill way below zero? Like you said, there are 2 sides to the story.

However, I have good reply for the heat complainers- it's a comment from a brother living in Houston, Tx.
He says, "You can't shovel humidity." or words to that effect.

Most of us waited all winter for the hot summer and now it's here. We are never satisfied.

On that note, 153 days until Christmas.

Yes, it is very funny. I have been to Wisconsin and seen people complaining about a chilly 72 degree day, they were sweltering and saying they would pass out from heat stroke! I was amazed. I wear sweaters till temps climb over 80 degrees for weeks.

Tempature is relative, as with all other things.

I know it does get hot, I have been all over.

What about St. Louis? Why isn't anything being done there? Those humans don't have any power.
They should have generators, hell, open the doors at a local resort, open hotel rooms, open schools and take the city bus system off line and use all the busses to take them to the marriott until it is fixed.

That's it...when you are accustomed to one thing, the other can be miserable...I've lived in Alaska, Arizona, and Florida (among other places) so I know extreme cold, extreme dry heat, and very humid heat...

I'm VERY cold intolerant in my middle-age...anything under 70° is chilly and under 60°, I'm freezing...but I lived in below zero temps for 3 yrs as a kid...however I don't care what anyone says about "but it's a dry heat" when it gets over 100° in the desert, it's doggone HOT! It got to 128° when I lived there...whew!

Completely agree!!

I actually just got back from a trip to Chicago, where they were complaining about the heatwave. I walked around the city in a pair of jeans with a sweatshirt at night. I live in a constant heatwave.
