yes. I used to say no way, who would pay attention to them. But then I realized that I was wasting TONS of money on really bad movies. I like to watch Epert and Roper (sp?) because their banter is humerous and it gives you a good impression of what to expect.
As a side note, if a movie is nominated for academy awards, then it is likely to SUCK. There are exceptions, but for like 80% of the movies this seems to be the case.

Not really, and I try to stay away from reviews until I've already seen the movie... THEN I'll read them. I have a friend who totally judges movies based on their reviews. I'm like, some of the best and/or favorite movies get bad reviews! The other thing is, you could probably find a good and a bad review for every movie out there, you know? :)

Not usually. I will watch the movie trailer and decide for myself if I think I will enjoy the movie or not. If I am still not sure I will sometimes check out the reviews and if ALL the critics hate the movie then it's probably a great film!

Nope. No. NOT. Usually when they say a movie is bad, and I finally get to see it....I usually LOVE it.......Sometimes I think the reviewers had their head in the popcorn bucket and did not see some of the movie. But I did notice that on some movies that are bad,,,,,,,,,,the trailers on the TV are usually the only good parts of the movie. I have rented some movies based on the TV trailers and some have been good and some bad. It don't matter what the critic says....cause if I like a movie, I like it and if I don't like a movie, I don't like it.....

No, No, No I'm a black guy, and of course I go to movie theater to see a lot of movies produce black directors, or African American are the leading actors and actress. 85% of the time those movies get bad reviews from the media. very often those movie gross income and viewing end up in the top five.
If I listen to those critics, I would never go to a movie theater to see a black movies.
I'm my own critics. I have 3 good site that I go to watch movie trailer previews, and I read 6 other web sites that is fair in term of movie critic.
once again I'm my own critics, so should you.

Not usually, unless each and every one without fail is saying "bomb". Then you see the so-called rave reviews for those kinds of movies where they can't get any of the real reviewers to say anything good about it. Then I'm sure to avoid it. But mostly I make my own judgments from my knowledge of the filmmakers, actors, & general idea of the story. If it's a story or style that I like I'll probably go see it even if someone says its bad.

No. I remember Roger Ebert gave Ferris Bueller's Day Off a terrible review and said that it would tank at the box office. It was a great movie and was a hit. It depends on the tastes of the critic.

I'll look through several reviews and if the critics consistently rate the movie low, then I'll probably choose a different film.
Where and how I spend my dough is important to me, so I will research to the extent I can the value I'm going to get for my dollar.

Some films I'll see irregardless of the reviews, because I love the actors or subject matter. But I'd looked forward to seeing "The Lady In the Water"... and have now decided against it, because of the damning reviews.
But if I always listened to the critics, I'd miss some gems...

The only thing I watch for in a critics review of a movie is if they were invited to see the movie. after that its just a mattter of taste. but if they don'e invite the critics to a special screening then the studio knows its bad.
