My computer is running on a window xp pro OS. It has been repair for a while and now its up and running but i forgot the password to the administrative accounts including the 1 thats supposed to be hidden. Someone told me to reinstall my OS off of windows but i have no clue how to do it. Would getting a new hard drive solve my problem?(i was hoping i wouldnt have to get a new hard drive even though i dont mind losing all the data on my computer)

There's no need to buy a new hard drive.

If you can't log in to any account, and you don't have a problem losing all your data, you start all over by inserting the Windows XP CD into the CD ROM drive before turning your computer on, then turn on your computer. If it asks to boot to the CD ROM, answer with Yes, or whatever response it's looking for.

This will begin the process of reinstalling windows from scratch. Read every screen very carefully and follow the prompts, and you'll be just fine.

If you own a HP, Dell, or Compact, then it's very easy to re-install WinXP. Just pop in the system restore disk in the drive and reboot the computer. Then just follow the on-screen instructions. Otherwise, you might need to change the BIOS settings so that the computer will boot from the CD ROM first in order to install WinXP.

If you can recover your password through safe mode, then you don't need to re-install winxp. Re-installing WinXP when it's totally necessary.

restart your computer in safe mode, should work. If not open up the tower and take the battery out of the mainboard for a few minutes, should clear out the passwords

Do you no longer recognize the password? If you cant get in, there's most effective two matters you'll be able to do. Guess the password or in case you have a dell and run on xp, then you'll be able to installed you xp disk and reinstall it. it's going to eliminate your password
