It caused some harsh alienation between the races, which is why there is a "black" and "white" culture today. In some ways, it made black people hold back because they felt like victims, which they were for a long time and still may be in some places today.

I think some Black people will always feel victimized and not try to advance themselves through education.
I think some White people hate Black people because they believe Blacks commit more crime and still consider them less than human..
