Hmmm...
If you want to act and sing, you're going to have to make a decision!
Are you comfortable with your self image? Being stage frightened is not uncommon and can even be channeled to help you perform, but you have to want to be a performer.
If your stage fright is so bad you can do the job, then you might want to reconsider your options.
Show-biz is TOUGH!!! The competition is ruthless and relentless. If you're concerned about your appearance then do whatever it takes to alter it to your satisfaction. However, if you can you should make the attempt to be confident and quit tripping so much on your looks.
Looks matter to a point, but if you project an air of confidence and you can actually sing, then how you look becomes less important. Aretha Franklin is not a little lady. Exercise and be in shape within your body structure. If you want it bad enough, and you don't give up, you'll do just fine. Good Luck!

What makes a person good is practice, practice, practice! There are lots of people who have became famous even though they were overweight or even fugly. People like Chris Farley, Star Jones, John Belushi, etc...What they had was charisma and personality. You need to open up and find your motivation to succeed. After all you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Good Luck!
