What makes a group a cult?

cult is a cohesive group of people (often a relatively small and recently founded religious movement) devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding culture or society considers to be far outside the mainstream

Although I do prefer to think as the mainstream religions as the 'cults' in the stereotypical sense of the word.
cult: mindless zombies that don't question what they are told to belive in.

The dictionary defines it as a religious group generally regarded to be extremest or false; Obsessive, faddish devotion. An exclusive group of people sharing an interest.

By that definition, all organized religion is a cult. I think that society dictates what is to be considered extremist, or false.

A group of crazy and deluded people comprises a cult; a group of people who are sickeningly "self-righteous" yet follow their own rules instead of society's law. A group of people who also stalks and harasses anyone outside of their deluded group. All of this comprises a cult.
