I would like to join, but I can't afford Nikes so we will have to wear Target or Walmart shoes.

study the initiating of all religions, that is a similar component. the only component that keeps a cult from turning out to be a faith is the small form of those that that have self belief in that cult. If a cult can get a definite volume of people than it turns right into a faith.

Aha, I know someone (in real life) who says he is going to start a cult after he retires. That's going to be 30+ years, so I will give you his idea...
He can learn from your mistakes for later..
Start an Egyptian cult. You could setup a Pyramid on the Mississippi river and name your self Ramses the Next - you could be the pharoah and have yourself mummified when you die.
You need to be very charismatic and need to learn Hyrogliphics.
