No, it is not too late at all! When I was in college, i shared many a class with peopel much older than you. Go for it! there are even added financial aid benefits for older people. Go ahead and apply to school! Good for you!

Well I am 40 and only recently earned an MS in math. Now I have a great job teaching community college. So it is definately possible. With physics it will be tougher as there are less positions available. You might consider majoring in math and minoring in physics then you could teach either.

IF you are not interested in teaching but have an aptitude for physics I would suggest majoring in engineering which is in essence applied physics. At 27..even 30 you are not too old to get hired as an engineer although plan on moving to whatever part of the country you can get work.

With teaching it is good you can always get a job in any part of the country without a big hassle. If you go this route be sure to include a secondary school teaching certificate in your degree plan. Also age is not a big factor in hiring teachers.

One other option with your math aptitude would be majoring in computer science. You will make good money and the job market is pretty decent. You will have to decide if you like that type of work. I worked as a programmer for a bit (with a math degree btw) and found the work unsatisfying but to each his own.

No way! Go back and do well! In order to get a better/higher paying job, yes, you will need to finish college. Studies show that college grads make over a million dollars more during their lifetime than a high school grad. Study something general but useful like business, science, or computers... those are all hot fields. Good luck1

It's never too late to go to school. If you haven't already applied to a college or university for the fall semester then it 'may' be a little late. But you can always apply to start in the spring. Of course, you can always see about taking classes at a community college and then transfer them into whatever college or university that you want to go to in the spring.

Jobs and money...that depends on what you want to do. Do you want to teach? If you want to teach - what level - high school or college level? If you want to teach at the college level you will need at least a Masters Degree. If you want to do research you could get by with just a BS. It all depends on what you want to do with the rest of your life.

I started back to school when I was 27. It's never too late. I thought I was too old to go back to school too....and someone I don't even know asked me why..and I said, by the time I'm done I'll be in my thirties...and he said: "you'll be in your thirties someday anyway"...simple, but true. If you get your bachelors, it'll probably take you a couple more years? Well, you'll be 29 with or without a bachelors....which do you pick? Good luck.

Absolutely not! I'm 27 also and going back to college this fall to kickstart a whole new career.

Be sure to smirk at the under 21 young'uns outside the bars as you walk into 'em.
