I'm seeing lots of "genetics" answers. He is Tsalagi (Cherokee), and that is why he has such great bone structure, and those great eyes.
He is hot because he is not now, nor will he ever be, a sell out. He does what he likes when he likes and how he likes. He is artistic and thoughtful, and if you bother to read any interview he has done you will know that he is a family man all the way, which many women find endearing. Even my husband agrees that he is talented, and he usually hates any actor I thing is attractive, so that is saying something. Of course 9 times out of 100 the pretty ones are stupid, and Johnny Depp is far from stupid (but oh so pretty), so that may be a part of it.

Not all The Women love The Johnny Depp.
And some of The Men also love The Johnny Depp.
Why? Because genetics has been very, very kind to The Johnny.

I love the Johnny Depp because he is dark and handsome and I love his deep set eyes. I've had a crush on him ever since I saw Cry Baby when I was 12. He is charming and charismatic, but what I love best about him is that he doesn't have the vain, conceited pretty-boy thing going on. He's a talented actor and has pulled off a variety of roles.

I don't. I took my nephew to see Pirates of the Caribbean2
and Johnny Depp sucked. I think he was much better in some of his other movies.

He has a great deal of charm. He's artistic, he's attractive, he has a sense of style that only true stars have. He has a lot of stunning quaities and is the winner of the "genetic lottery" so to speak. Yes I know that he is 40 something years old now but he's still a big stud.

I think part of it is based on the wide variety of characters he's played throughout the years, there is bound to be one character a woman has loved. I also think he leaves much to the imagination, doesn't talk too much about his personal life, and has this mysterious, dark thing going on that's pretty irresistable.

He's a brilliantly talented actor, intelligent (which does it for me), isn't afraid to be in movies which aren't going to be blockbusters but he likes the character, is so easy on the eyes, and he's aging like a bottle of fine (!) wine.

because he was a teen idol sensation back in the day, and now, he is making a comeback with all these great movies, and he is still so good-looking

because he is HOT and he can paly many different roles in acting like a pirate willy wonka seccret window so many different roles other then other actors who only do righting or only love movies and stuff like that!!!
