Home Improvement is on right now and it got me to thinking, there's twin girls on the show, they're playing Tim Taylor's brother's daughters, and they can't act to save their lives, then there's a better example on 7th Heaven, the twin boys Sam and David were so terrible at acting I had to change the channel. Those twins on the hotel show on the disney thing, they were in Friends when they were younger and they weren't acting to great either, neither do Mary Kate and Ashley, is something gone wrong in the "acting" part of brain during the "accident" of twins?

The acting gene was split between the two. If they were recombined, they might be able to act, but looking at some of your examples, maybe not.

Most twins go into to acting because there is a need for identical twins in that business, not necessarily because they are talented. I read somewhere that Mary Kate & Ashley were chosen for Full House at about 9 mo. old because they were the only set of twins not crying or fussing at the audition. (I doubt they were expected to have acting skills at that age) And look - they ended up millionaires by the time they were 18.

I don't agree. Acting is not something that depends on whether you're twin or not. Have you seen the Phelps brothers (Fred and George Weasley)in the Harry Potter films? I think they are very good. You may have had these bad experiences because it's not easy to find twins who share this talent, and are talented enough. But I don't think it's impossible.

When you consider the rarity of twins and couple that with the rarity of really good acting skills, you're pretty much stuck with nothing. So if you have a role for twins, you have to make due with what you have.

No, it's just the producers are so desprate to get good looking or cute twins on the show, wheather they're good actors or not!

'cause it's hard to find twins who are both good looking, who's parents are interested in exploiting them and that can read and take direction reasonably well. take what you can get, i guess
