An "808" refers to the Roland TR 808, which is a drum machine that became popular in the late 1980's, after it had been discontinued.

"On the track Super Disco Breakin' off their Hello Nasty album, the Beastie Boys quip: 'Nothing sounds quite like an 808'"

I think 808 stand for the TR808, which is a drum machine to create beats!

this question has been asked before....yep it's a drum effect....you can hear it most songs......(i.e. blaque-like an 808 beyonce-deja vu)

when beyonce says it if you notice she says

"base"

then the guitar comes in

"high hat"

then the you here a cymbal clicking (high hat is the cymbal on a stick apart of a drum set)

"808"

then you here something like a drum
