Ok, I apologize in advance to Stewart fans if this offends you, I just have some questions/comments to some answers I've been seeing! I am entitled to my opinion, so please be polite!
Was it not Stewart who preached that drivers need to take it easy before someone gets hurt or someone else dies, that same race Stewart intentionally hit Kenseth (which could have caused a fatal accident)! Stewart fans didn't hold it against him! Many races later Gordon gets into Kenseth just racing (unproven to be intentionally) and people have a fit (many of which were Stewart fans)! Now a couple weeks later Stewart again uses his car as a weapon and knocks someone around in what could've been worse than it was also taking out an innocent bystander! All he gets is put a lap down, so he ended up getting on the lead lap in the end!
How can people say Edwards deserved worse of a penalty than Stewart? Although both were wrong, Stewart started the whole thing, either area could've caused injury!

Another point it is it isn't racing if they intentionally wreck each other! Racing is racing, yes there are accidents, but not bumper cars!

OKAY this is my 2 cents: Tony has always been a whiner and complainer, him and Jeff both. Jr started that way and he lost a lot of fans (inc me). To "accidentally" spin someone "rubbing is racing"... To purposely spin them to screw someone over is too much. Carl (my driver!!) got caught up in this last retaliation and then Tony had the nerve to give him the finger... Tony thinks because he has time and titles under him that he can treat everyone else like a stepping stone is plain wrong. Tony brings a lot of money to the sport... but I think he is a danger to all the other drivers and he should be stopped. I think last week at Pocono when he was talking about Dale Sr... like they were in the same league was just too much!! Dale Sr way out classed Tony. Tony is a bully and a menace to the sport, he acts like a martyr, it makes me sick! Go Carl!!

Here's the thing J he even admitted what he did was wrong and he was penalized for it and believe me, emotionally he is suffering. I guess alot of people just think he gets off when he screws up but he knows that what he did hurt drivers, his team and his fans and he has apologized. What Smoke did was an emotional reaction to Bowyer putting him in the wall. Edwards planned it and then carried it out later in the race. Tony's apologized for his aggressive driving, I havent seen Carl apologize only whine.
Tony is more of a man because he does admit when he was wrong. Can we give him some credit for that? Or are Smoke haters so mean and cruel they can't forgive him for being human?
Trust me on something J, from personal experience I know that Smoke regrets deeply what he did. He also knows he hurt people and he has apologized for losing his temper. He is a human being just like us and until we all wear these drivers shoes, we can never understand what really goes through their minds.
Love you Smoke and I know how sorry you are.
I would also like to add Ryan Newman did the same thing to Smoke and they didn't penalize him and Jeff did it to Matt Kenseth, no penalty! Smoke does it though and everybody has a coniption fit. I guess that's how it goes though. Seems like Smoke can't bat his eyes without a penalty!
Quote from Carl Edwards after the race... I guess retaliating isn't enough....
Found this little quote on ESPN.com:
"I've got to choose my words carefully -- if it weren't for the respect of the sport and the people watching and his team, he'd be out there bleeding right now," Edwards said. "That's so frustrating. How can a person make it this far in life being such a jerk?
"I want to like Tony. If you hold that guy up, like if he thinks you held him up, he gets so upset and then he can wreck two guys and give you the finger. That's spectacularly self-centered. I can't imagine being like that."
Oh! Lord! Looks like a long two weeks of "Tony Bashing"!!!

I gotta say, I can't stand either Kenseth or Edwards or anything Roush for that matter ... but after Daytona, I found myself sticking up for Matt. And after Pocono this weekend, I found myself cheering for Edwards. I don't know what's gotten into Stewart this year. I think he just thinks he's king-**** now that he is the champ and can get away with whatever he wants. It's sad ... he's a good driver, but why does he have to ruin it by being such a jerk. I can't wait until someone just takes him out.
I really don't like Jr. much either but at least he's got some call. He immediately takes responsiblity when he screws up and I've never seen him intentionally wreck someone for any reason whatsoever.

Tony is a great driver and will be known as a legendary racer but Tony, along with Robbie Gordon, are the "poster boys" for NASCAR road rage.
Tony makes NASCAR fun to watch but he's a hypocrite and he needs to be sat down for one race for running Matt Kenseth off the track during the first race of the year and for the incident at Pocono with Clint Bowyer. Both were obvious "road rage" incidents.
Maybe Home Depot ought to step in again. They got his attention last time he was out of control.

I am a Tony Stewart Fan. I was pretty disappointed in him this past race. So he got bumped and caught the wall, he didn't have to hit anyone on purpose and spin Edwards, who had nothing to do with it. I don't blame Edwards for spinning Stewart.
I think what Tony did to Carl was an accident, he wasn't trying to hit him, he just got caught up in the mess. But Carl did hit Tony on purpose. He meant to hit Tony and that is that.
This is racing, sh** happens. They need to just get over it!!!
Its nice to see Nascar enforcing the rules for a change.
I am a fan of Smoke and Edwards.

People complain about Jeff Gordon whining, but the loudest and most frequent whiner has got to be Tony. He'll gripe one week that everyone needs to take it easy but the next week he's spinning the oppositions car out because someone "did'nt give him room" Like yesterday when he whined that Blaney should've just given him the spot and was racing to "hard" for the begining of a race. Well in my opinion Tony was racing just as hard, why did'nt he give the space to Blaney? And I hated to see Carl Edwards penalized for just repaying Tony. Now don't get me wrong I love to see the beating and banging of racing I think it's part of racing. But with Tony what's good for the goose is not always good for the gander in his opinion

You're right about all of it. Stewart just doesn't practice what he preaches. He expects everyone to move out of his way and respect him. He's not very respectable. Look at what he did to Boris Said at Sonoma. That was un-called-for and unacceptable. I'm sure the Stewart fans are behind their driver all the way, and I'm fine with it. What I am saying is, Tony DOES do things wrong, there's just no way around it. You can't seriously watch the replay of what happened, and then look me in the eye and say that wasn't wrong, Clint Bowyer deserved it, blah blah blah. He does things wrong every driver, every person, does something wrong. I'm not saying he's the meanest cold-blodded most idiotic racecar driver out there, but I am saying he needs to learn. He's trying to tell rookies how to race him. Um, hello, how can they do it if you can't?

Okay so Tony is a total bully. I was glad that NASCAR penalized him. I think they should have pulled him from the race. By the way Tony has never been that great of a driver- he is not even that hot. He is just a big childish bully. I was cheering on Edwards, but he should have been penalized too..
I think it boils down to this- The bully always gets protected. And Tony is a bully.

You are right about Tony preaching that people need to be more tolerant and now he's right back to the old Tony. I heard his comments after the race and he sounded just as hard-headed and cocky as always.
And to the people who continually complain about Gordon's whining- Stewart does more whining and complaining and making excuses than Jeff ever did in the past and doesn't do now. As a matter of fact, people complained about Jeff when he would make comments or legitimate complaints about safety issues such as track conditions.

i think of you're fake effect. lady here, loves Nascar, vast Jeff Gordon fan, not a Tony Stewart fan. How did you like final week? Wasn't it exciting observing him get spun on pit street. Now that i've got pissed you off- serious answer- racing would not be exciting if anybody enjoyed a similar driving force. it would be uninteresting. valuable, not anybody likes Tony, some people do in comparison to his temper tantrums or the actual incontrovertible fact that he ought to reason yet another driving force to get harm, yet that reported even the die stressful "I hate Tony Stewart" people-i'm not one among them via the way-have a similar courting with him as a results of fact the late Dale Earnheart. that would desire to tell you something. all of us know the boy can force. They the two hate him as a results of fact he's nice or they hate him as a results of fact he's "undesirable". That my buddy is the exciting area of racing. loosen up, chortle slightly, delight in the exciting.

I am a die hard Stewart fan, but I must agree with you that Tony went too far. I usually love his fiery attitude with his racing, but Smoke went over the edge. I think his punishment was just, and anything worse than that would have been totally unfair. I don't think it was fair that Carl got into trouble.
Tony is awesome but goes too far. I hope he learns that he's too good to be so childish.
