The Joy Luck Club (1993) Through flashbacks, four chinese women born in US and their mothers born in feudal China, explore their past and present. Amazing!
Madama Butterfly (1954) Japanese geisha who ignoredsocial rejection to marry an American naval officer, only to be abandoned and rejected by him. I don't want to give too much away but it was a blow.
My Geisha (1962) comedy as Shirley MacLaine's character plays a movie-star wife posing as a geisha to win a role in her director husband's version of Madame Butterfly.
Farewell My Concubine (1993) It is the story of two male perfoermors in a Beijing Opera house, who perform the opera, Farewell My Concubine, and the woman who comes between their friendship.

MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!!!
Empire of the Sun (1987) Christian Bale plays a rich spoiled boy, James Graham, whose life is turned upside down by the Japanese invasion of Shanghai, in 12/1941. Separated from his parents, he is captured, and taken to Soo Chow confinement camp and that is when he learned to respect, share and grew up. it is an amazing movie
Their is more but these are my absolute favorite
