This is still a common form of marriage in today's global society.

Marriage has had many different social and economic strings attached to it. Originally, Marriage was a "Gift" from God uniting man, woman, and God in unity. Then marriage evolved into a union to increase families power and status'. Now, many in the Western culture base marriage off a concept of love; of which few have defined or understand.

Then marriage evolved into an economic benefit. This arrangement allowed royalty and commoners to expand their wealth and make alliances. However, the families typically would favor having the couple at least like each other so that this would facilitate the relations between the union. What sense dose it make to have a daughter marry the son of Duke if the daughter is going to be difficult to the son causing the relationship between the two families to sever and possibly cause war?

I guess I would need to determine why the families were forcing the marriage in today's global world, and once I determined this, I could agree to agree with my family or plot ways to foil their evil dreams.

Do not know where you are from, but where ever it is in the world, do not let anyone force you into a marrage. Are you going to live with the person, or the person that is forceing you to get married. Suggestion: Ask the person who is forceing you to get married to marry the person, if they think that person is so good.

I don't know anyone who's dumb enough to try to run my life for me like that.. I'm not exactly the sort of person who copes well with being controled.

But for the sake of arguement, to bide my time while discussing things with a lawyer, I'd probably start talking about genetic problems in the family... develop a split personality... develop a very expenisive taste in everything... act like a sleaze with everyone but him... Make myself into exactly what he didn't want...

There would not be alot that I could do! I would probably just go with it. Then I would sit around until I died wondering what else is out there. Where I would be if I got a choice of who I married. Unless I liked him!!!
