What basic equipment in an average non-medical supply store is good at maintaining and repairing manual rigid-framed wheel chairs. ? Where can I easily find these that's not goign to cost me my arms (my legs can go, hahaha)?

Replacement parts will probably have to be ordered from the manufacturer. Routine maintainance should include lubrication of wheel bearings with oil or grease. Nuts, bolts, and screws should be kept tight. Beyond that, about the only thing you will need to keep an eye on is the condition of any padded or upholstered areas.

Try a bicycle shop or the bike section in a Walmart or similar type store.
