I.D cards should not be a problem with people with nothing to hide, sure there will be security problems, but think every British ( european ) citizen should have id cards , it is not just about crime but could be used in positive ways for medical records and also people could add whether they want to be a donor which would help the overstreched health services.

You really can't do anything about it. If the government requires it and wants you to pay for it, then you will have to. They will make it to where you will have to have it. I really don't understand what is wrong with carrying an ID card. Its not against your rights to have the government track you if its being done to protect the country.

This will be another government sponsered money-maker for the fraudsters.People with nothing to hide don't need them, crooks & terrorists wil be able to get them easily. Is there even one proven case any-where in the world that an id card prevented a terrorist attack?Btw.any-one receiving any state benefit will be forced to get an id card, because you won't get paid with-out one.

Whats your problem with surveillance if you are a good citizen.I don't have any problem with cameras or ID cards if that helps us being safe. There is no conspiracy... they don't want to invade your privacy. This is to catch the bad guys. After all its funny that you can show your driving licence to make prove of identity.
Lets have a proper card.

Unfortunately this government has lost credibility in this area. They admit up to 750,000 illegal immigrants roam our streets. They will never get them to sign up for ID cards. If everyone can't have one no one should. I see no problem with the concept its the bungling oafs who will run the system worry me looking at this Labour lots history.

ID cards exist all over Europe and they still don't work. There are dozens of people producing fake driving licences, so they will soon get into ID cards.
As for me, I don't mind. I have nothing to hide.

Hell no.
I will renew my passport just before they come with compulsory ID cards attached.
Sorry, did I say compulsory? I meant voluntary.
Hopefully when Blair goes, this stupid idea will go with him.
