As the 8th of 9 children, I grew up constantly around people who loved me. And today, I am not a shy person. Love the laughter of children, appreciate the differences of each person that I meet. Am wonderful remembering names, birthdays, special events of the ones that I care for - family & friends.
Generations of my family history had a large number of children. Some were 14 children, even one was 23. I do have to admit, 23 must've been a way overload of a handful.
As a parent, I always thought a 6 pack would be a perfect number. 3 boys, 3 girls. Well, God had other plans. After giving birth to 5 children, I'm now pregnant with twins. Lucky #7.
And am I done? Not quite sure. After all, my children are beautiful, intelligent, suprisingly well behaved, and in advanced curriculums (knock on wood).
They've always said God only gives you what you can handle. I've been wondering if maybe I wasn't confused with someone else. But, I guess God has more faith in me, then I've had in myself. And I will continue to try to be the best mother that I can be.

I have two but I wanted three, my health just will not let me. The number depends on you and your partner. Did you grow up in a large family? A small family? How did you like it? What is financially reasonable? What is better for your lifestyle?
PS- I know a lady that has 12 children..... Maybe thats fun for some but I don't see 6 children to a room, and being homeschooled with my siblings as a plus (I know this is going to cause hate mail and I apologize now. I was homeschooled the wrong way and I had a lot of catching up to do in College. And as for having 12? Guess it could be fun.

I think it totally depends on the mother and the father and how many they can handle. There is a family that I know that has 6 kids and all of them are always neat and clean and well behaved and they are all very smart and well learned. But I also know a family with 3 children and they can't afford them. The youngest boy is always wearing the wrong clothes for the season and I even went and bought him shoes last winter because they didn't have enough money for shoes for him. It wouldn't bother me so much but they want another one too.
That is my feelings on the subject.

whoa! 12??!! That is a lot.
I personally think 2 or 3 is a good number - once you start to outnumber the adults too much, I get nervous :)
But, I have a friend who is the mom of 6 and wants at least one more. So....
I guess it is all a family preference - can you afford to raise more? does your other children's personalities lean toward more? do you have help if needed to have more? This number will be different for each of us :)

I think it depends on your situation. My view is that I don't have much $ but am a hard worker and not on public assistance. I figure that I can always make the $ but have to make sure I have the love to give and the desire to face the hard road ahead. I'd say an average to me would be 2-3.

2 or 4.. because if you only have one they become spoiled lil brats (not to be mean, i just have delt with kids in that situation) 2 they mite fight a lot and not get alone.. but i do know some who do.. and never 3 (unless u have twins) because u don't want a middle child.. even if you think every child will be treat equal.. the middle child wont.. or they get left out... of may feel left out.. (1st child your number one.. everyone loves you... and the last child baby of the family.. and it will be the last child you have.. so everyone always adores the youngest.. then there's the middle child.. even tho it Will be loved and ever one will like him/her.. they will feel left out at times.. ) and 4 kids...no middle child and not spoiled...

2 is good. 3 is bad, there's always problems with the middle child, you can never fit into one hotel room on vacation, they're always fighting over who gets to sit in the middle seats in the minivan, etc. Although, it is easier when picking out where you're going out to dinner. Usually with 3 kids there's always a tiebreaker. I think 4 is a good number.
