Even God's gifts are not free, they come with a price tag of faith and forever fealty to the lord. They also cost you 10% of everything you make, or all the other christians will tell you to go to hell.
Even if a gift is given freely, it is only because someone else has already paid the price for it, whatever that may be.
Using Free gift as an advertisment is just a companies way of doubling up on catching your attention. In case the gift part didn't grab you, did we mention it was also free?
It's the same as "NEW and IMPROVED" If it is improved doesn't that make it new anyway? And if it is New, wouldn't you hope that they improved it a little? Instead of being "New, but worse than before".

Sometimes people give you a gift and expect something in return so I have to say no. The only gift that is 100% free is Gods gift of salvation

No, many gifts come with a price. Some gifts are given as a reward for something you have done or as an incentive for something you will do.
There is one completely free gift, however, given to you by our God in heaven JUST because He loves you, no strings attached!
Eph 2:8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God's gift--
Eph 2:9 not from works, so that no one can boast
Joh 3:16 "For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

Everything always has a price.
Like a birthday gift? you have to be friends with the person.
And time shares? listen to people.
Think about it!
