The point guard is like the quarterback is in football, he gets everyone involved. All guards should be able to dribble and handle the ball well but a point guard should be good at penetrating and breaking defenses down and finding open teamates. Making everybody else job easy, like a Steve Nash or a Chris Paul.

A point guard is the primary ball-handler for a basketball team. He/she is the person that dribbles the ball up the court and traditionally is someone who is more apt to look to pass the ball first and shoot second.
Some point guards are very talented shooters and can drive well to the basket, similar to Steve Nash or Dwyane Wade. Usually the other guard on the floor, the shooting guard or 2-guard, is a better shooter and can penetrate into the interior of the defense with more ease.

Point Guard is the guard who controls the offence. A point guard is like a quarterback and the shooting guard is like the wide reciever. The shooting guard is usually the teams biggest offensive threat. ex.. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, George Gervin

there are 2 different guards. the shooting guard (SG) and the point guard (PG) The point guard is the player who creates the offense and can usually shoot good and usually takes the ball up the court. the shooting guard is just a guy that shoots good and doesn't take the ball up the court.

a point guard is is the ball handler or should i say playmaker.He/She brings the ball up court and sets up the offence.His/her main responsibility is to make assist,where the guard(SG,2)is more a scorer or good three point shooter,driving the lane

point guard is the one that handles the ball when your on offense going down the court .. the one thats always on the top of the key .. like up there close to the half court line .. and a gurd stays around the three point linekinda uptop .. they all ite wings
