Really, really sick. I would rather have a few sick days up my sleeve so I can use them when I need a long weekend.
SShhhhh, don't tell the boss!

If I have a fever, or think I am contagious, I will take a day off. I try to save my days off in case my daughter gets sick so I can stay home with her without losing a paid day.

That said, I have gone to work with a fever, and with total laryngitis just because I did not have any sick days yet.

Normally, If you feel like you cannot function or carry out your normal job duties, you should stay home. HOWEVER, I do believe in taking what I call a mental health day. Everyone needs a day off when their NOT sick!

Why use your sick days for when you are sick....use them for when the sun is shining and you want to go to the beach.

All I do when I am sick is lay around watching TV---why not go to work and get paid for being sick?

Use common sense. If you have a fever, cold, coughing spells, DO NOT go to work and get everyone else sick. Good grief.

In my youth I was hungover on occasion. However, I always went in to work. So if you're wondering, I don't think "hungover" qualifies. Losing your voice, a real case of the flu ( not just on a Monday) appendicitis, breaking your ankle, they all qualify. Perhaps you are at an ethical impasse?
