Here are a few things we use here at the computer store. Download Ad-Aware, Spy-bot and Microsoft Windows Defender. You can get these at majorgeeks.com, make sure you download the right thing, it can be kinda tricky. After you download the make sure you update the definitions. Also run an on-line spy-ware scan at www.ewido.net. Also go to Ad/Remove programs and take out anything that looks real funny. Also you can remove more spyware by doing the scans after downloading them in Safe Mode. Press F8 when the computer is booting. Hope that helps.

I used to recommend Adaware, then it was Spyware Nuker (I still love the guys that wrote that software), but today, I can't recommend anything other that Microsoft Windows Defender.

Microsoft released this software about a year ago and called it the Anti-Spyware Beta. It has recently changed names to Windows Defender. It's free, although I've heard rumors that they might start charging for it at some point.

You can download it here...

It's in it's 2nd beta and is rock solid stable. It works very well. I haven't had a spyware infection problem since I've been running it.

You could also try here. One of my Spyware Article Sites...

Go to downloads.com (Cnet) and go into the utilities ---search out either the Adaware SE program or a program called
A-Squared---either of these will rock and roll for you

My own preference is the A-Squared--it has some strong definitions that can be downloaded for it and it has come up with stuff on my system literally on the heels of running a deep scan with the Adaware SE

There's lots of free software out there that will help you with your problem. It sounds like you just want one or two good programs that you don't have to pay for and will never expire, right?

I'm giving you links to two free downloads (they're not direct links, but you'll see) from CNet's website. These are two of the most popular Anti-Spyware programs out there and should be great for you.

type in spyware, there are loads of free apps for that. BTW it is almost impossible to manually delete spyware because it is so hidden in your system. You need a program for that.

It's always good to reformat your hard drive and reinstall system software every now and then. That'll get rid of the spyware.
