I strongly recommend Ft. DeSoto County Park in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. You'd be camping right on the beach!

Also Bahia Honda State Park in the Florida Keys. Same thing. camping right on the beach!

texas...
the big bend.. hardly anyone goes there and it's so huge that you never really run into anyone... i suggest getting a permit for backpacking so you can hit the trails and sleep in amazing areas....

colorado...
anything in the west rockies... avoid the denver area as much as possible.. too many people and the campgrounds are overused... the further west you go, the more scenic area you'll get.. you have forests in the northwest and central areas... and in the 4-corners area (the southwest) you'll run into the red and edward abbey country.. kind of arid and desert-like...

well.... this place isnt too far from colorado and its worth the drive. . . the northern area of the grand canyon. my family stayed there last summer and it was gorgeous. you'd think that it would be all deserty but the northern area is actually a forest. we got up really early and watched the sun come up over the canyon.... it was awesome and the camping was great. :) hope you have fun!

Sorry, don't know those states - but I'd suggest Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan.
