I think any side of us is human nature. However, I understand your cynical view as it mirrors mine when I think of what's going on in the world.
If someone is denying wrong-doing, I'll caution them that I know "human nature too well".
Conversely, if I know of an act of true kindness or heroism, I'll often say, "that's restored my faith in human nature".
From my own reactions then, I'm bearing out the first nine words of my answer.

(psychlogically, Freud referred to the 'id', which is the uncontolled, totally selfish and destructive 'baby' within all of us. Basically, the superego is society and our parents and consideration for others and the rules. The ego is a go between for the id and superego and helps mediate between the needs of both. This normally works well except in extraordinary circumtances where society seems unstable and heading for collapse and loss of it's normal values. Under these conditions the ego says it's "every man for himself" and the id is given freer reign. I think this is the side of human nature that's referred to in your question. Just realise that society is conceptual and variable, but is a very thin veneer between us and the jungle.)

Human nature can't only be the bad side of us..there's also love, compassion and empathy which are all part of human nature as well.

According to Freud all humans have an inborn tendency to destroy themselves and everything around them. Is that what you mean by the bad side of human nature?

I have had a great deal of trouble with people who have attempted to inflict their delousions (mostly fraudian phsycology cult members)in my life, ruining most of it so far by the way.I would have to say You are what you have been MADE by your environment along with the physical limitations or stregnths of your genes. I must have done something right as my parents did w/ me to have survived the tourtre I am experienceing in Kalamazoo, MI,USA. Strangely, I am not allowed to raise the children I gave birth to. I heard Psycology is a dying study due to the lack of science & constant ABUSE of what is known, I think this says alot.

No. I think if I agreed I would have committed hari-kiri by now. The world is changing for the better - we must believe this. There's a lot of hatred about just now, but also a lot of hope and love
I just hope peace wins before we destroy the earth and all that is beautiful within it
