there are no plans to put any age limit to 21. yes i've heard the plans to put the smoking limit up aswell. good thing, but it wont make any difference. Even outlawing cigarettes completely wouldnt make a difference. I've heard something about hte driving limit going up, but i think theyve been talking about it for a while, i heard it when i was 16, and im now 19, and have had my license for 2years and 2 months!

I hope that is true that 18 will be the age for a driving test. I think learning to drive from 17 is good but 1 years practise before you are allowed a test can only be good for experience. Smoking should be banned anyway. Drinking well lots of kids let themselves down with booze. Its not the age its the fact you have to be responsible.

Smoking age will go up to 18, drinking age will stay at 18 i dont think it will make much of a difference raising it to 21 cos people will still drink regardless

As far as I know the age limits haven't been changed by the law yet. They are more a voluntary thing. I live in Scotland and here most shops have a 21 age for booze and an 18 for cigs ..... But remember smoking and drinking is harmful to your health and best not started in the first place........nag nag nag ....... heheehee

I'm 35 and I can't drive. So I don't care. I do smoke and I wish that it had been banned for the under 65's when I was your age. Don't smoke, I can't give up and I could do with the money to get some driving lessons.

There are no plans afoot to my knowledge to raise the age for drinking. A public consultation has been launched to consider raising the age for smoking - see www.dh.gov.uk under current news for information of the consultation and to find out how to contribute. As for driving, there are different ages for different types of vehicles - you have to be 21 to drive certain types of vehicle like buses/lorries. If you want to find out more about that go to www.direct.gov.uk and follow the link for motorists to find the section on ages.
