I was thinking of buying a few pencil skirts for work this fall, but I was wondering if anyone can really wear pencil skirts. I think that I am imagining only really thin people being able to pull them off. I am around 5'9'' and wear between an 8 and a 10 skirt size. Do you think I should go for it?

yes, i would go for it! make sure you wear a looser fitting top to balance out the form-fitting skirt. you can look at style.com or instyle.com for ideas on how to wear it!

If you are 5'9" and only wear an 8 to 10 skirt size, I would think you are slim enough to wear a pencil skirt. (As long as you don't have a big stomach and big rear end, that makes the skirt not a pencil skirt.)

Only if you want people looking up your skirt everytime you sit down. They allow for no leg movement, so if you are a fast walker or have a long stride, I don't think you'll be happy. Work clothes need to be comfortable so that you can not only move but also be a little conservative. Most offices want conservative because older clients need to trust you; they won't trust you, if they think you're just a kid. I work in a medical office.

Yes, 8 or 10 is fine for pencil. Just make sure you don't muffin top it. (If you are heavy in the mid section, make sure your belly doesn't lap over the top. And nothing skin tight, pantilines, etc are just tacky!)

bring a few friends with you and get their opinion. it all comes down to how you feel you look in them.

It's not your size that will determine if it will look good on you... it is your shape. people with bigger butts don't look that great in them...
