thanks to you guys I have found the FF in the 1997 ford F-150 now, when I take it off, will gas go pouring out of the line, or does the fuel pump have to force that through?

I am actually talking about the gas in the line, not the filter.

yes you will have fuel all over but there is a line that runs to the throttle body that can be used to release the pressure and that should help with leaking of gas

if the truck is off the fuel pump will not be on so the fuel will not be under pressure.

use a bucket to catch any spillage of fuel. and have the new filter and clamps all ready to go on so you can do it fast.

after I replaced the fuel pump on my 63 pickup because it got ruined with stuff in it, I added a fuel filter before it to protect it. it runs fine so I think its a good idea.

Yes filters hold a couple of ounces of gas. Have something ready to catch it or soak it up.

Some gas will come out. Not much, but you might get wet. Be ready.
