first off, if you like it, then you should use it. That is one of the joys of having a baby - you get to pick out a name you like best.
I think this name has a strong biblical reference and is appealing because of it. Good luck!

It sounds Jewish.. Isn't Abram later known as Abraham and Malachi wasn't he Esther's Cousin? It is too powerful for a little boy, try something more soft...

It's your kid. So, it really only matters what you like. It sounds biblical. Is that what you were going for? Whenever I hear the name Malachi I get the same feeling I get when I hear the name Damien...I think, "isn't that a name they use for bad guys in horror movies?"

Interesting people are talking about american names when America is a hodge podge of nationalities and different names. I love biblical names! My son is Theophilus James. I think you should go for it no matter what anyone says. If it is what you want that do it.

when I named my children, I always took into consideration what kinds of nick names could be made from them. (ex. Max, kids could pick on him & call him Maxi-pad) I also thought about how easy it would be for the child to learn to spell and write the name. I think the name you picked is fine, it sounds like a name that will command attendtion when he is older.

If you really like it, then you should take it. However, this is America, maybe a traditional American name would be better.
