The tv must have an output and the stereo must have an input with the same type of connector jacks or you may need a RF converter from an electronics store. (25-50 dollars). There is usually more than 1 way to connect these two units depending on what equipment you have :dvd player, cable box, direct AV outputs on tv, type of stereo inputs
Tell the clerks at "radio shack" what you have and they will help

You do not mention your TV and Stereo make/model so specific information is not possible. I'll give you generic information and hopefully you will be able to figure/adapt the info here to your systems.
If your TV has output jacks (RCA Plugs) you can use any RCA cable from the output to any RCA input on your Stereo (Except the phono input). Some recievers/stereos have a TV input, if so, use that. Look for an AUX in if that is possible for the input to yoru stereo. When you turn on your stereo, select the input that you connected the TV to as your audio source.
If your TV does not have a TV OUT jacks then you will need to use some other method that has stereo outputs, like a VCR or Cable TV Tuner or Satellite Reciever as the input to your stereo. To use stereo you will have to turn that piece of equipment on any and every time you want to use your stereo for watch movies. If you use this method you will have to use that device to adjust or tune the stations that you wish to watch.
Post more specific information on your components and I will try and be more specific.

Post the model of your receiver and t.v. and when your not going to be home (just kidding) to get a more accurate response.
Basically, yo want to look on the back of your TV for a connection that says "output", if you have a stereo t.v. it probably has a red and white "RCA" jack that will allow you to connect without any adapters. Most receivers use RCA connectors as inputs. Run a RCA cable out from the TV to the AUX input on your receiver. Hit the menu button on your TV and look for output and there might be a selection for "external" or something like that.
Good Luck,

If you have AV outputs on the TV and AV inputs on the Stereo you should be good to go. Get yourself some AV cables from Radioshack and voila!

Depends, if you have the Red and White ONLY connection then do it through there, however if you have red white and yellow together don't bother because thats input only. The only other way to do it is to get a scart to phono adapter..you can pick em up and Currys, Comet, Argos for about £5.

Call RadioShack and say that you are not sure if you need new cables. Then ask them what wire goes where. They should be able to help you out.
