To the person who said this is not about religion. Yes it is. This battle has been going on for ever. It is also about money and resources but religion is the reason these people hate each other so much in the first place. As if any god in anyones religion would approve of this fighting over land and money. Its sad....and it will never go away...no matter what GW tells you.

Well that's a dumb question, because you generalize everyone. Was Stalin a religious man? Last I checked, Fidel Castro was atheist. From a secular standpoint, look back at the history of civilizations. We are territorial mammals by nature. Peace never lasts. We settle, and then we get fidgety, so we set about trying to conquer the unknown.

Yes,because there would always be intolerant people, who would call 53% of the world's population foolish, ignorant and dumb, simply for religious beliefs, that the ignorant intolerant person can't understand.

This question is right up there with "Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?" It assumes that you agree with the statement that all religious people are stupid. It isn't designed to really ask a question but to slam people who believe in God. It is irresponsible and adversarial. Next time try putting some thought in to your question it works much better.

i think fundamentalist religion is a subcategory of what causes war and conflict--extremism.
Whether you're considering an extremist about a religion (Ayatollah, Al-queda, Spanish Inquisition), ethnic purity (the Nazis), or some sort of ideology of violent class upheavel (Lenin, Stalin, Mao), it can be dangerous and lead to unpleasant situations and mass death.

Yes. People just need an excuse to fight. Religion is convenient, but without it they'd still think of something. For starters, they could fight over who gets to control and occupy the land, particularly the land containing billions of dollars worth of oil.

Right! It would be better without their superstition.
RJ-maybe atheist wouldn't have anything to WHINE about if christians acted like REAL AMERICANS for once and think about someone other than themselves for a change.
Or is that too much to ask?

If people didn't ask dumb and ignorant questions without doing research on their own to educate themselves on what is really going on and criticize 3 totally different religions and lump them into one would the world be a better place? STOP DRINKING THE KOOL-AID. learn to think please.

One one hand, no, because all of the religious freaks from here would not be as intolerant of the religious freaks over there, but since they hold what we need, war would be inevitable over oil.
