It can take an awfully long time for your cycles to return to normal when they have been suppressed, even for a short time, by hormonal birth control.
Ovulation is still possible, however if your cycles are in a mess then it is still something it is best to address, doctors would be an option but often doctors try to treat menstrual cycles problems by using hormonal birth control - which is a total contradiction in terms, but very common in our culture and common within the medical world due to lack of knowledge on the part of doctors themselves.
Another option of course is to try to regulate your cycles yourself, there are a lot of herbs that can be used to regulate your cycle, evening primrose oil capsules daily is the most commonly used method.
Tracking your cycles may be a good idea too, if not a little time consuming – looking into something like FAM, even the basic principles could tell you exactly why you are not menstruating and whether-or-not you are ovulating.

You ovulate before a period. So you can ovulate, get pregnant, and not have a period until after the child is born.
There have been cases of women that have had many many children not having a period for decades, as they become pregnant after each birth on their first ovulation.

i used to be on the pill, but now sterilized since having my 4 chiuld, i was told when i was on the pill that apparently it takes a year to get out fo your system depending on how long you have been on it,your periods could be alittle off track for a while like mine was , as your body just adjusts its self to you not having the pill in your system anymore it takes a while to get the balance right.
i personally stilll go and see your gp and ask whats going on here with your periods, im not sure about if you still ovulate i think you do, but not 100 per cent certain on that so dont take my word for it ok lol.
hope you get it all sorted out
