This probably sounds crazy as this is my forth baby but i honestly have no idea what it means that my cervix is soft and i am 3 fingetips dialated. With my last 3 babies i never realized i was having contractions but with this one i have been having them for over a month now.

When your body is ready to give birth to baby the hormonal system will increase it's oxytosinlevel. This wil soften your cervix so that it can open up for the baby. It will dilate about 10 cm before you can start to push the baby out. Three fingers will be like 5 cm.
The contractions you've had for so long are probably Braxton Hicks. They are small, and not enough to start childbirth.

I would have thought some one would have explained this to you. When your cervix starts to soften (like butter) it is getting ready to go into the birthing process. You will dilate to 10 centimeters altogether. A three without actually being in labor is great progress. That is less work you will have to do later!
The contractions you are having are probably braxton hicks. Some women have then only towards the end of their pregnancy, however, I had them the entire nine months with all three of my children.

This is my 3rd being pregnant. With all three I've constantly measured proper on monitor. I had my first at 38 weeks, with moment I used to be prompted at 38 weeks 6 days (however used to be contracting and four cm dilated whilst I went for induction). I'm no longer definite approximately the scan. I did not have any checks earlier than I used to be prompted. Good good fortune! Hope your youngster comes quickly!

When your cervix starts to soften, it means your baby is on his/her way out. It has to thin out so much before the baby can be delivered, and being dialated as much as you are, sounds like you'll be a new mommy REAL soon!

Well doctors say when your dialated to 4 then your in active labor. So you might be having your baby real soon. That would be a good thing I hope. Good Luck and Congrats!!

You are quite normal. Cervix becomes soft &blue, about contractions, better not to have.
