a 1994 Ford Escort with a manual transmission has a mechanical clutch
What are you really asking? When it should be replaced? How long should it last?

It has mechanical clutches ( the actual springs that pull the clutch from the flywheel), all manuals in cars and trucks do.. but what you are probably asking is if it's hydralically controlled from the pedal to the fork that does the actual applying and the answer is yes...

Uses a cltch master cyliner thru a line to a slave cylinder on the front of the transmission that pushes the rod on the clutch fork.
