like i said, this is not a normal expiriment, where you have to hurt the animal, i will not hurt it at all, and it wont be alone, beleive me, when i buy an animal, unless it is a solitary one, i buy enough for them to have one great big, same sex family.

Keep in mind mice are social creatures, so don't get one, get at least two. I recommend two females because male mice not only fight, but they have a very strong odor for their size. One mouse will get lonely and depressed.

One thing that might convince your mom is that they only live for a short period of time, 2-3 years, so they won't be your house for a long time like a cat or dog would.

They also don't eat much and can be left for 3-4 days when you go on vacation with extra food and water.

Don't waste your money on a cage, get a big transluscent rubber maid tub for under $10 and make a cage top out of wood and hardware cloth. They they will have a lot of room to run around it and be very happy mice.

The only toys worth spending money on are wheels. Grease axle with vegetable oil (edible). After that, cardboard and boxes make the best toys.

If you already have pets why not use one of them since you aren't going to hurt it anyways. If you are going to try and breed a mouse to something else, forget it..doesn't work.....mouse to mouse there...already tried it!!! Hmmm, if you want to use this mouse and not hurt it then find someone who will take it as a pet when you are finished or buy one for you to use. But make for sure they will take it before you buy it. Better yet, anyone have a mouse you could borrow.....since you say you are not going to harm it. I am curious what you will use this mouse for...mazes.....Pavlovian or Skinner on a mouse...hmmmmmm. I agree with the other person..get a pair of females....and don't get any to breed ...you'll have tons of mice then! They don't take up much space and do like boxes and toilet paper rolls...a wheel is a must.....2-3 years are tops on their lifespan.....still curious, what you using the mouse for?

NEVER BUY AN IGUANA UNLESS ALL PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSE ARE WILLING TO CARE FOR IT! That was once the worst recommendation I have learn! I was once going to inform you to inform your mother, "Well, no less than I dont wish a 7 foot lengthy iguana that has to devour all our meals" and but any person had the lack of information to inform a child(you reside along with your mother and father, so I anticipate you're among a million and 18....) to get an iguana! They are imply(such a lot the time), they devour plenty, men are hyper-agressive for the duration of breeding season, they may be able to harm an entire grown guy, simply suppose what they could do to you! Sure, they are lovable, definite I have one, however that was once a mistake and I want I hadn't. Take it from me: Iggy+little one= useless puppy OR puppy that leads to a safe haven..... no offense. However, at the argument of you short of a snake... I could inform her that it's going to provide you accountability for whatever as opposed to your self. It shall be your little youngster.... or whatever. Also, strain at the puppy factor. Lots of moms are pressured to provide into that. If you continue to dont win, suck it up and get one while you transfer out so she not ever comes in your residence lol sorry for the rant.... i say sorry.

Well, if you aren't using it for a pet, and your mom loves mice, it shouldn't be a problem unless it's too expensive (which I highly doubt). All you have to do is convince your mom you aren't buying it as a pet but for a science experiment regarding you do not harm the poor mouse.

only get a mouse if you are planning to care for it for the rest of its life. there is no such thing as "getting a mouse JUST for an experiment"... mice are living creatures and cant just be tossed aside after we are finished with our "experiments!"

Have you tried just explaining to your mom what you intend to do? It seems like that would be the most logical way to go. If she already likes mice, it may not be as hard to sell her on the idea as you think.
