Is it illegal to record a electronic conversation spefically Instant messages without the other person's consent? How about sharing that convo with a 3rd party? I am from the state of Illinois.

Twelve states require, under most circumstances, the consent of all parties to a conversation. Those jurisdictions are California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington. Be aware that you will sometimes hear these referred to inaccurately as "two-party consent" laws. If there are more than two people involved in the conversation, all must consent to the recording/logging

I believe they may rule that there is no expectation on the internet, so it would not be illegal to do. But if you are really wanting to know, ask a lawyer.
