When it comes right down to performance for the everyday average Joe, macs are hands down the best choice. First of all, the way the OS is setup in mac makes it almost always virus free. Installing applications is 100x's faster than a PC and you won't have to restart unless the program changes the OS drastically. They are a little more expensive, but it's totally worth the extra $$. Gamers will love the way Macs handle games, the software is limited a little more than PC though. When it comes to connectivity, Windows plug and play on XP can't even try to compete!
PC's on the other hand are the best choice if you need to get some serious work done or get a quick cheap computer, go with a PC! Almost everyone has had some windows experience, so working with a PC will be much easier for everyone; although, once you get used to it, a Mac is much easier to use.
Alltogether, I would choose a Mac over a PC any day. Yeah, they cost a little more, but it's so worth it.

I prefer PC. For the most part, my choice is based on the volume of software available for my computer. In particular, it can be difficult to find business applications for a Mac. Additionally, in my experience, those applications don't run as well as a similar application on a PC, significantly due to the way Mac OS handles virtual memory.

Some will say that there is a benefit to using a Mac for graphics work, but I have found that having a graphics-dedicated system, regardless of manufacturer, is really the key.

Mac certainly has its high-points, but in truth, since the development of Windows for PC, they are mostly equal...With that in mind, again, I default to the system that provides me with the most choices, which is PC at this point.

No *you* be serious; you're taunting people with a loaded question.

A true professional who does extensive computing knows that you have to be able to work with both.. or at least be able to generate work that is cross-platform compatible. I don't know about anyone else, but I refuse to lose a valuable contract or work opportunity just over something petty like "uh.. I don't use pc's (macs)".

They're different enough to be annoying but similar enough to not be totally lost in one way or the other.

Honestly... I don't have a preference about the machines themselves, but Mac *users*.... "think different".

Better for what?

MAC is rarely attacked by hackers, as opposed to Windows. I guess they have it in for Bill Gates, but I guess anything can be 'got-at' as such.
Lookat it like this:
A bank can be robbed.
A bus driver can be mugged and robbed of his takings.
Rape in a populated park may happen.
Abduction does occur.
Murder is rife all over the planet.

And following these abhorrent things we all see and have to be wary of each day, don't you think that any type of equipment may be just as vunerable as the sad stuff above?
Yes. So, in that breath, think clear as to what you want in a computer.
In my experience, the MAC Operating system is pretty much safe, but I don't know if it's down to the fact that MS hackers are APPLE in disguise!
Nevertheless - I enjoy WINDOWS and have done for many years, without having too many probs. Others may push you toward the MAC.

Your choice and money, dude!

Enjoy & good luck....George.

The Mac is more user-friendly, but the PC enables you to mess around with the settings. (good thing)

I prefer PC.

Mac. No viruses that I know of can do serious damage to it. Plus it has built in bluetooth and built-in AirPort. AND Microsoft has all these system errors with the PC's.

For playing computer games and using the internet and doing your average thing. I'd recommend a PC.

Macs can do that too. I just have used PCs for so long that I don't have a reason to switch.

Macs are extremely powerful machines and I love them for their extensive media and graphic capabilities.

Well, 96% of the world uses PC's. I guess logically PC's are better.
