In non stereotyped, I mean no femme fatales or damsel in distress or romantic lead, I have seen thousands of movies and I can't think of one, there has to be one, right? I can think of strong female action hero leads but none of them did 'well' at the box office...

How about a woman that was all of those femme fatale, damsel in distress, and romantic lead, while still being a very strong character??? Vivian Leigh as Scarlet O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind". She was all female but one of the strongest women ever portrayed on the big screen.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (the first movie) did very well at the box office when it was released; it's on the All-Time Box Office list at 192. (out of 352) with $131,144,183 as its gross. It's the only one that I can think of, and that's quite an accomplishment, to be sure.

Dangerous Minds with Michelle Pfeiffer was a great movie. She played a very strong felmale lead and she was not sterotyped.
