I have software designed for windows 98, or Me that gives me an error when I try to run on Windows XP (which is the only OS I have now although I was running the software successfully on Win ME before updating my OS). The error says my version of Windows does not comply with the requirements of the software. Is there a way I can make this program run anyway? How?

By "trick the program to run in XP", I just mean make use of a backward compatibility feature of XP that I don't know about that allows for running 98, ME stuff. Like the one for DOS stuff (I know that one already, but it doesn't help here.) There are already some good suggestions here that I will try as soon as I get home. Keep them coming.

It kinda depends on what the requirements of the software is. If its something like dos you can get dos emulators to run programs in. Otherwise you can adjust the properties of the game to possibly run in WIN XP. Some games just wont ever run in the newer versions of windows.

It is all in the code of the program. You can't trick it. That is like saying, "can I trick my car engine to run on water instead of gasoline."
