I want an opinon not an insult I am Nigerian I hav lived most of my life out of the country. I have always heard of the 419 scams and etc. I agree that is a problem but I do not agree that 9 out of 10 Nigerian youth are scam artists. I am a youth and i am not a scam artist I come from a big family and non of them I know of are scam artists. My mother was the first woman ambassador of Nigeria to West Germany and to the Phillipines from 1979-1984 when Nigeria was doing a lot better than now. I really hate people making up thier minds without being open minded. before I moved to America from Turkey I did not have any horrible things againist the entire public based on people who commit crimes in their country. Anyway I would like to hear about experinces with Nigerians and Nigeria visits etc.

Nigerians are very very very warm people.
Extremely hard working and have been badly represented by some.
I can tell you for a fact that over 80% of Nigerians are very honest people and are doing the country proud both within and outside the country. But like all bad things, the bad news get more publicity (just like America is known for serial killers and they blame it on childhood experiences).
One thing I love about Nigerians is their tenacity for success. When other people see obstacles; Nigerians always see solutions. It’s just so terrible that some of those who have this God given creativity use it in the wrong way.
Nigerians are very creative people.
Another trait is, their ability to survive any situation they are in, you can obviously see that thought the past and present political situations in |Nigeria. The people just keep forging ahead not minding what the Government do. They try to make a better tomorrow out of each day.
They are truly amazing people.
And I wish them success in the coming election Year.

I couldn't agree with you more! I hate it when people make up their minds about a country/nation without having been there. They take their knowledge from newspapers, rumours, etc. When in fact, that only contributes to a small image of what the country or people are about. I mean, come on, how many newspapers only report good stuff!? Impossible!

My take on Nigerians (can't comment on Nigeria, because I have not been there). I dated a Nigerian and he was a gentleman! Well educated and had excellent morals! We are still very good friends. Nigerian men are HOT!!!

the only Nigerians I "know" are Shola Ameobi,Daniel Amokachi,
Jay-Jay Okocha, Celestine Babayaro, etc so I can't give a proper opinion on Nigerians and I've never been to your country.

But I totally agree with you about not judging an entire group of people on the basis of what a few may have done.

As you have discovered for all the pretence of "political correctness" America is a deeply prejudiced country. It is so ingrained in the culture that even people who claim not to be prejudiced inadvertently make biased, bigoted or offensive remarks without even realising it.

Ok well, I've met quite a few Nigerians and they are my friends. I must say, they're all SOOO NICE! Wow, I've NEVER met a racial group that is as nice as them. They have manners, know how to handle themselves, and so friendly. I don't know who said that they are horrible or whatever, because my experience with them has been nothing but a pleasant one.
And also, my dad visited Nigeria and even he finds them very friendly and he liked Nigeria. He said that he had a GREAT time in Nigeria.
ok i might sound soo repetitive, but the truth is that my encounter with EVERY nigerian has been sooo pleasant and heart warming! they make me feel welcome.
and i'm definitely planning on visiting Nigeria after a few years. = )

OK, my experience with Nigerians are the ones in South Africa. Most of them are drug lords and pimps whith very little regard for human life. Most crime in South africa comes from these peopl. I am not saying that they represent all Nigerians but they do paint a bad picture for nigerians!!
